My journey with dog training began in 2012 and I have been obsessed ever since!
I first began with a FCI/KC Registered Malinois called “Cara” from Threenines Kennel based in Galston, Ayrshire. Cara was trained in the KNPV programme before being fully trained in tracking/man trailing. She was then sold to West Mids Fire Service as an Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) dog where she became part of the UK’s International Search & Rescue team (ISAR) – the first Malinois to join that team. An incredible achievement for my first trained dog!
From that point, I was hooked on training dogs for real working roles. I began travelling to the Netherlands and Belgium 6/7 times per year, learning about the KNPV and NVBK (Belgian Ring) programmes and the bloodlines behind these unique dogs. I eventually purchased “Reza” (a special female from a special bloodline) from John te Lindert & Jeanette Mud. Reza became my foundation breeding female and produced many quality police and working dogs.
Since about 2016, I have regularly bred litters and selected puppies from each litter to be trained on for working roles – often training them from about 7 weeks old until around 12/18 months when they are ready for the real world. I also frequently bought puppies and adolescent dogs to be trained.
I have trained and sold many dogs on to a variety of real working roles, including:
- Dual Purpose (Bitework & Detection) Police Dogs to USA
- General Purpose (Bitework & Tracking) Police Dogs to UK Police
- Search & Rescue Dogs to Emergency Services
- Detection Dogs
- Anti Poaching Dogs to Nature Reserves in Africa
- International Breeding Programmes in the USA, Canada and Europe.
In 2024, we decided to open our services to the public in the hope that we can help every day dog owners bring their dogs to a “Higher Level!”
Our Approach
At Higher Level Dogs, we train using all four quadrants which gives us the best chance of achieving the best training outcome for each dog. We bring modern theory together with the “black magic” we have learned from older training styles in Europe.
Our Services
Anything dog – we can help! Whether it’s general pet training and behaviour problems or whether its sport or working dog related. We also sometimes have dogs or puppies for sale – either trained or green. We can help find dogs for those looking for something specific too.
